This is software that monitors multiple host IP addresses simultaneously using the "ping" command and records the results for later tracking and viewing. In addition to basic functions such as setting the interval in seconds for each host to ping, it has special features:
1. It presents all the results in a "calendar" format. You can clearly see if a particular host is green every day of the month or if there are specific red days. For example, you can easily identify if a host consistently turns red on Sundays, which might indicate an automatic reboot schedule.
2. In addition to being presented in a "calendar" format, the results are also displayed in a format that covers a full 24-hour day. This allows for a more detailed view, where you can clearly observe, for
example, if a particular host consistently turns red at 1 o'clock in the morning and then returns to green after 2 o'clock.
3. You can categorize the hosts you want to monitor into groups for easier management.
For example, servers that need to be operational 24/7 without interruptions are grouped together to ensure there is no occurrence of red status. Another group is designated for systems with security concerns, such as those requiring authorized permission for startup; these should not display any green status. Additionally, a separate group is set up for the office's business department. It helps to monitor whether there are green statuses on Sundays or continuous red statuses during weekdays. This further aids in assessing potential security issues or resource idle scheduling needs.
4. In addition to retaining detailed ping data every second, to avoid accumulating unnecessary data that may cause management distraction, there is also a "record only when status changes" viewing feature. That means, if a host continues to ping successfully without interruption, the software will record only one entry (date and time) while continuously accumulating the success count until the host's status changes to a failure. At that point, it will create a new entry for the failure (date and time) and start counting the failure occurrences.
5. This program is a portable executable version. After downloading, upon extraction, it offers two execution modes (Polling Mode vs. Force Run Mode) for you to choose from. It's important to note that, regardless of the mode you select, they both share the same historical data record database, ensuring data sharing. Therefore, you can decide which mode to use based on your needs, just avoid running both modes simultaneously as it may lead to duplicate data entries and potential failures in data writing.
Regarding the two execution modes:
Polling Mode ( kapa_ping_fornext.exe )
his mode pings the IP addresses in batches until all the hosts on the list are completed. Afterward, it enters a countdown state and restarts the pinging process in batches after the countdown timer expires.
Force Mode ( kapa_ping_run.exe + kapa_ping_show.exe )
In this mode, all the IP addresses are sent for pinging simultaneously. The IPs will continuously ping with a minimum interval of 1 second between repetitions
Due to the nature of the "Force Mode," when it's actively performing numerous ping operations, it may result in unresponsive user interface, which is normal. However, please note that the ping operations continue to run in the background. If you wish to terminate all ping operations during this time, you will need to run the "kapa_ping_show.exe", separately for control purposes.
Execute the program, press the "Send a Command to End Forceful Inquiry and Prepare" button, and wait for all IPs to complete and obtain results (on-screen message: Operation Completed!). Afterward, you can close the program or shut down the computer.
Please note that this software requires standard IP address formats, and there is no preset limit on the number of monitored hosts in this software. Please monitor your computer's performance and its network speed load to set the optimal balance.
